Verve Showcase

RCN TVRaising Children Network (RCN) recently released a series of video clips on their website to coincide with the national distribution of a parenting DVD. The video clips were taken from the DVD and published in a special section of the RCN website called raisingchildren.tv, as well as in other relevant topic areas across the site.

The end user sees the video clips on a YouTube-style video player and can control the player as they would when viewing content on other websites.

Providing branding opportunities, interactivity and complementing the DVD distribution, the player helps RCN engage even further with their target audience.

Back in Verve, the video display is configured during the design process and the content contributor has a couple of options for uploading content.

  • Firstly, they can take video files (under 10MB) and upload into the video asset in the Verve library as they would for files and images. This is ideal for editors with little technical experience.
  • Secondly, they can FTP larger files up to the Lateral servers and simply type the name of the file into Verve.

For RCN, Verve was able to customise the player for their target audience through design, buffer time and layout, ultimately providing another feature to the increasingly rich resources on their website.
